GEORGETOWN, KY (WAVE) - A Kentucky Toyota plant unveiled the first Lexus built in the U.S. on Monday.
The Toyota plant in Georgetown is adding the Lexus ES 350 to it's production lineup. Governor Steve Beshear and others attended a special ceremony at the plant Monday for the unveiling of the first Lexus assembled at the plant and in the U.S.
Toyota says several thousand team members underwent 1.5 million hours of training for to produce the sedan.
The plant invested $360 million in the new dedicated assembly line which created 750 new jobs, Toyota said.
The Georgetown plant is Toyota's first wholly owned facility in North America. The plant's Camry has been the top-selling car in America for the past 13 years.
