Search for robbery suspect prompts lockdown at Atherton High School

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The search for a robbery suspect caused a Louisville high school to go on lockdown Wednesday morning.

JCPS was notified by police about a possible armed robber in the area of Atherton High School.

A spokesperson for JCPS said the school was briefly placed on lockdown. Operations at the school are now back to normal.

Bonnie Hackbarth with JCPS said there was never any threat to students at Atherton.

A robbery suspect was taken into custody in the area at about 9:30 a.m., according to MetrSafe. The original call on the robbery was taken from the 1700 block of Dundee Way, which is about a block away from Atherton High School.

Further details about the robbery and suspect were not immediately available.
