FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) - The Bluegrass Festival celebrating Matt Bevin's inauguration started off typically enough. Kentucky's new governor greeted guests from the top of a staircase at the Kentucky Historical Society.

Then came the music. Grammy winner and Kentucky native Ricky Skaggs played away while Bevin recorded him in front of a crowd. But then, once Bevin left and the crowd thinned, there was a guest not many had seemed to notice - at first.

"These Kentucky women!" Oscar winner Jon Voight told WAVE 3 News' Natalia Martinez after dancing with a few of the guests.

Voight is a known Republican and is good friends with Bevin.

"It's just wonderful to be here and I love this music. This Bluegrass music," Voight said.

Voight took pictures with just about anyone who asked and told us he is filming a movie in Kentucky and didn't want to miss spending this day celebrating with his gubernatorial friend.

It wasn't just Bevin and Voight who were having all the fun Tuesday, the Governor's daughters and wife skipped out on the Bluegrass Festival to attend a private event at the Frankfort Convention Center.

"Looking at the young children, to be able to grow up in the governor's mansion is something  we are all excited about," Frankfort's Mayor Bill May said of Bevin's children.

May was glad to see the crowd welcoming the state's new governor, though he too was keeping the mystery artist due to play at the Convention Center a secret.

"They did tell me, but they said I'm not allowed to say. If I told ya, I wouldn't get to go," May joked.

We did find out who that mystery guest was, Country music singer, Lee Brice. Brice's tour bus was parked outside of the convention center. He took the stage at 9:50 p.m.

A few songs in, Brice brought Bevin up on stage, according to guests. That's when Brice gave Bevin his guitar. By 11 p.m., the show was over and Bevin exited through the back of the Convention Center.
