MORGANTOWN, KY (WAVE) - A Kentucky county is now without protection from it's sheriff's department after the county voted to table the sheriff's budget.

The budget cuts means sheriff's deputies in Butler County are off the job until December 28 when the board meets again.

On December 14, Sheriff Scottie Ward went on a Facebook rant saying quote "I can not force guys to put there life on the line for no money."

Ward stopped short of calling the work stoppage a strike.
