Arrest made in metro's first homicide of 2016

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Louisville Metro Police Department has made an arrest in the metro's first homicide of 2016.

Austin Patton, 20, was taken into custody Thursday afternoon and charged with murder and tampering with evidence.

Patton had been on the run for more than a day after Marc "Markie" Morgan, 38, who was shot to death Wednesday at Autumn Lakes Mobile Home Park in Valley Station. Morgan, who lived in the 6100 block ob Blevins Gap Road, was pronounced dead at the University of Louisville at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Morgan died as the result of a single gun-shot wound, according to Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Jack Arnold.

Patton was picked up shortly before 1 p.m. at the Garden Inn & Extended Stay in Shepherdsville, according to LMPD.
