LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The suspect in the shooting that wounded a Shively police officer Friday morning has been identified.

Louisville Metro police say the suspect is 53-year-old Kenneth R. Probus. He is in serious condition at University of Louisville Hospital, according to officials.

The shooting happened at 4113 Eden Lane, a home which Probus owns, around 11 a.m. Friday when several Shively police officers part of a special investigations unit were attempting to serve a narcotics search warrant.

Officials say a man opened fire, shooting an officer, later identified as Wes Singleton, 31, several times in the leg.

He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with a police escort. Probus was transported moments later.

Probus' only previous arrest came in 1997 for reckless driving and DUI. Police say criminal charges are expected for Probus as the investigation continues.

Meanwhile the Shively Police Chief Kevin Higdon says that Singleton is doing better after having surgery and is expected to be out of the hospital in four or five days.

A woman, identified as Loretta Harris, 51, who was inside the home at the time was arrested on an outstanding warrant for trafficking methamphetamine.
