Girl found dead at juvenile detention center in Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - A female youth was found dead on Monday at Lincoln Village Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Elizabethtown, according to a news release from the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet.
The agency said the girl was found unresponsive at the facility early Monday morning. An autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday.

Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown is in charge of the investigation. The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is also investigating the incident.
The last in-custody death of a juvenile at a DJJ facility happened in 1999, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
