ELKMONT, AL (WAVE) - Your train all year. You run, lift weights and run some more. You get up early, eat a protein bar and drink a liter of water. You do all that work just to get showed up... by a dog!
That's what happened to all but six of the runners in the Elkmont Half Marathon on Jan. 16.
Ludivine, a two-year-old bloodhound, went out for his daily tinkle that morning, then decided to go for a little run. Well, a big run actually.
The dog snuck out of his yard and found his way to the starting line of the race. He crossed the finish line in just under and hour and 33 minutes, coming in 7th of all the (human) runners.
Ludivine's story was first told by the magazine Canadian Running and has since spread to other news outlets around the world.
