LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Three New York state residents were arrested in Louisville after thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise was found inside their vehicle.

Freddy Steward Alonzo, 20; Elizabeth Camejo, 23, and Kenluis Diaz, 21, all of Bronx, NY, are being held at Louisville Metro Corrections and are scheduled to be arraigned January 29. Each is charged with receiving stolen property over $10,000.

The arrests came after Louisville Metro police detectives saw the three sitting in a Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot of Economy Inn, 3304 Bardstown Road. Detectives approached the Jeep because they say it was in a known high crime area.

After getting consent to search the Jeep, police said they found 19 Apple iPhone 6S models and 13 Beats by Dre headphones. The items, valued at more than $10,000, were all new and still in their original packages. Detectives said they also found 14 phone cases and a JBL speaker.

Diaz told police he purchased the items at a truck stop in Pennsylvania for $250.
