Pedestrian struck & killed near Bardstown Road Sunday morning

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A pedestrian was struck and killed near Bardstown Road early Sunday morning.

Shortly after 6 a.m. Louisville Metro Police Department Fifth Division officers were called to Emerson Ave. and Bardstown Rd. on the report of a person down, according to LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley. There they discovered a man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, near the curb of Emerson Ave.

There were no witnesses and investigators were unable to determine how long the man had been down. Upon further investigation, including injuries and location of the body, the LMPD Traffic Unit believes the man was walking eastbound on Emerson when he was struck by a vehicle.

Police believe the vehicle that struck the victim may be light blue with possibly a cracked, or shattered, windshield.
