LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - I'm excited about a new weekly segment you will find here every Friday on WAVE3.com called "Five Questions with …"

Each week I will profile someone in WAVE Country and ask them five questions. It might be the chef of a new restaurant, a child who has won a big national competition, or, as in this week's case, the new Miss Kentucky USA.

Our new Miss Kentucky USA is Kyle Hornback, a student from the University of Louisville. She was crowned in the pageant last Sunday night.

1) How did you feel when they announced your name as the winner?
I was absolutely shocked! I couldn't stop shaking and I was so excited. Even to this day, it still hasn't all quite sunk in yet.

2) What do you hope to accomplish during your reign? Anything special you hope to do?
Like I told the judges in my interview, I plan to empower women by sharing confidence and teaching them to always be true to themselves. As an ambassador for brain injury awareness, I hope to teach children and adults alike how to take measures in preventing traumatic brain injury. Lastly, I want to be a representative of my faith and spread compassion and love throughout my community.

3) What do you want people to learn about Louisville and Kentucky as you take the stage representing this area?
I would love for people to discover the natural beauty of the state of Kentucky in general and the amazing diversity of Louisville in particular. I hope that people can experience true southern hospitality through me as Miss Kentucky USA.

4) What's your pageant experience?
I have competed in various pageants since I was 11 years old, but this has been my first time with the Miss Universe Organization.

5) What are your career aspirations?
After graduating from the University of Louisville, I plan to go on to law school and pursue a career in criminal law. My ultimate goal is so become a circuit court judge.
