KY meteorologist arrested on drug charges

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Kentucky meteorologist and her husband were arrested Tuesday afternoon after authorities discovered an indoor marijuana growth operation in their home.

Tori Shaw, 32, and her husband, Tyler Smoyer, 35, are charged with firearm enhanced cultivating of five or more marijuana plants, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Shaw is a meteorologist at WPSD Local 6 in Paducah, Kentucky. Both Shaw and Smoyer are residents of Mayfield, Kentucky.

KSP said the arrests were made after receiving a tip through their Text-a-Tip program about an indoor marijuana growth operation.

After troopers arrived on scene with a search warrant, they found five marijuana plants, six long guns, two pistols, two silencers, eight storage boxes of ammunition, a tactical vest and multiple items used to cultivate marijuana. Two additional Marijuana plants were also found in a trash can behind the scene.

Both were booked in the Graves County jail but have since been released.
