GEORGETOWN, IN (WAVE) - A woman is facing counterfeiting charges after police accused her of using fake $20 bills at two stores.
Our partners at the News and Tribune reported Kayla Miller, of Jeffersonville, was arrested Feb. 19, two days after officers issued an arrest warrant.
She tried to use the money at two stores in Georgetown on Dec. 23, 2015, according to police.
Officers said a cashier at Circle K on West Knable Road told police the $20 bill Miller gave her did not pass a marker test.
When police questioned Miller, she said she got the bill as change for a $50 bill from a nearby Dollar General store.
Officers investigated the matter and found no $50 in Dollar General's cash register. Instead, they found another fake $20.
Police charged Miller with two felony counts of counterfeiting.
