LA GRANGE, KY (WAVE) - La Grange residents are being warned about a man who's approaching women in parking lots, including one woman who was forced at gunpoint to withdraw money from her bank account.
About 1:45 a.m. on March 10, La Grange police officers responded to Planet Fitness in the 400 block of South First Avenue on a report of a man who tried to get inside a parked car with a gym patron inside. Police said the man threatened the woman with a handgun when she refused to open the door. The victim left the scene in her car and called 911 from a nearby gas station.
The man was described as being white, about 5'10" tall, and weighing about 220 lbs. He had light brown hair and was wearing blue jeans and a gray shirt. He covered his nose and mouth with a blue bandana.
At 11:56 p.m. on March 10, a woman was abducted at gunpoint from the Walmart parking lot in the 100 block of New Moody Lane in La Grange. Police said she was forced to drive to her bank and withdraw money from her account. She was then forced to drive the gunman to the entrance of the Oldham County Library in La Grange where he exited the vehicle and instructed the woman to drive away.
The suspect description in this case is identical to the first case. He was also described by the second victim as being between 25 and 30 years old. Police believe the incidents are related.
