LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The mother of a murdered 5-month-old boy has been charged with criminal abuse in connection to the case.
An arrest slip states that Brittney Ballard, 20, of Louisville was the custodial parent of little Noah Ballard-Jones on multiple occasions when Noah suffered "severe and significant injuries that required medical attention and medical attention was not sought."
Noah was taken from a home in the 2200 block of Date Street to Kosair Children's Hospital in cardiac arrest on March 14. Police said documented injuries included fractures to Noah's right arm and leg, 11 to 13 rib fractures, and a skull fractures. Doctors said all of the injuries except the skull fracture were in various states of healing. The child died on March 16.
Leon Montgomery III, 24, was arrested on March 23 and charged with murder and criminal abuse. The relationship between Montgomery and the baby has not been released.
