LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Fighter jets, decadent food and half-a-million people. They can only mean one thing - it's Thunder Over Louisville time.
John Huff and his family came down from Ohio to the air and fireworks shows along the Ohio River with high expectations.
"I'm expecting to see an air show that's better than the one in Dayton, Ohio," he said.
Huff said he was also in town for the first time to see first-hand the fireworks display he had only heard about.
"I hear the fireworks at night are the best in the nation," he said.
In fact Thunder Over Louisville is so well-known that it brought Dan Maroney to town for the fourth time. He and his friends drive up from Georgia.
"I've been to several fireworks shows around the country, (but) this is the biggest one I've seen," Maroney said. "Now I'm not an expert, but this is fantastic."
"You guys know how to throw a party," Huff said, during the fireworks. "These are amazing. My friend tried to get me down here for eight years, and I should have come here eight years ago. This is great; it's fantastic."
Clean up after Thunder began almost immediately after the fireworks ended.
