Car crash leads to discovery of missing teen

NELSON COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - A single-vehicle crash in Nelson County Sunday night led to the discovery of a missing teen from Kansas.

Sgt. Michael Clark with the Nelson County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to an injury accident about 7 p.m. on Sunday at the 33 mile marker on Bluegrass Parkway. They discovered a 2006 Chrysler Sebring with front end damage.

Upon investigating, the deputies discovered that the 16-year-old driver had been reported missing from Topeka, Kansas. The 15-year-old female passenger is from Kentucky.

Clark said both juveniles suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital by Nelson County EMS for examination.

The juveniles' families were notified and the teens were released to their parents.

Clark said charges are not expected to be filed in the case
