LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - For the 11th consecutive year it was all things pink at the Louisville Slugger factory.

Bat makers turned, dipped and branded 300 pink Louisville Slugger baseball bats for Major League Baseball players like Jason Heyward, Adam Jones and Joey Votto to swing on Mother's Day, May 8.

The pink bats aren't just pretty to look at they are also helping to raise awareness and money. Any hot pink Louisville Slugger bats used in a Mother's Day game will collected and authenticated by MLB then placed in an online auction on mlb.com.

"That has raised a lot of awareness and money for MLB Charities," said Rick Redman, Vice President of Corporate Communication for Hillerich & Bradsby Co. "They take that money and it goes to breast cancer  organizations that help raise awareness and do research, and the idea is to save lives."

Once the players are finished using the bats each is autographed before the auction.

Over the course of the 11 years the pink bats have been used in 165 Major League Baseball games.
