Motorcyclist killed in crash on I-65 in downtown Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving another vehicle on Interstate 65 in downtown Louisville.

Louisville Metro Police Department spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said the driver of a Jeep was traveling northbound and made an abrupt lane change, rear-ending the motorcyclist near the Broadway exit at 9:45 p.m. Thursday.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with minor injuries.

The name of the motorcyclist has not been released.

Smiley said toxicology tests will determine whether or not charges will be filed against the driver of the Jeep.

Lanes of I-65 near the crash have been shut down. Drivers in the area should expect delays.
