Louisville man meets firefighter who saved his life

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Firefighters who donated bone marrow had a chance to meet the people whose lives they helped save.

One of those recipients was Jonathan Lamont Ragland, a father of two from Louisville.

Firefighter Fredrick Perdue, of Engine Company 67 in the Bronx donated the marrow to help save Ragland's life.

Ragland, who was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called thrombocythemia when he was a junior in high school, underwent the transplant in September of 2013 at Vanderbilt University of Louisville Medical Center.
