Missing woman found dead in wreckage hidden from road

COLUMBIA, KY (WAVE) - A woman reported missing on Wednesday has been found dead following a car crash in Taylor County.

Kentucky State Police said the crash happened about 12:40 p.m. ET Tuesday on Stoner Creek Road. Carla Monday, 54, of Liberty in Casey County had been driving a westbound 2005 Saturn when she ran off the roadway, went over an embankment and hit several trees. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

Monday was reported missing on Wednesday after failing to return from work Tuesday night. She also never reported for her noon shift at Amazon on Tuesday.

Police said an extensive search of the route she was known to take to work led to the discovery of her vehicle and body, which were difficult to see from the roadway. Monday was pronounced dead at the scene.
