JACKSON COUNTY, IN (WAVE) - A 3-year-old girl was killed early Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Jackson County, Indiana.

Indiana State Police said a 2006 Jeep Liberty driven by Brent Sawyer, 21, of Crothersville was traveling south on US 31 about 12:40 a.m. when Sawyer lost control. His vehicle crossed the center line and crashed nearly head-on into the path of a 2003 Ford Windstar driven by Devin Bevers, 30, also of Crothersville.

As a result of the crash, Bevers' daughter, 3-year-old Tavaya Bevers, died of her injuries. She was a back seat passenger. Police believe the girl was properly restrained in a child restraint when the crash occurred.
