LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Friday the Kroger at McMahan Plaza became the first Louisville location of the grocery chain to offer online ordering.

Customers can order online at Kroger ClickList. They create their shopping list, select a pick-up time and then place the online order. A Kroger associate then hand picks the order and stores it in temperature appropriate zones until the customer arrives. Finally the customer can pull his, or her, vehicle to the designated pick-up lane and an associate will load the order into the car.

Orders placed before midnight will be available for pick up the next day. Customers pay for their groceries, when they pick them up.

"Basically it saves the customer a lot of time," Jennifer Smith of Kroger said. "They're not spending an hour or an hour-and-a-half at a time in the store. They might spend 20 minutes putting their order in and then 5 minutes to pick it up."

Shopping through Kroger's ClickList will cost customers a $4.95 service fee, however, their three times will be free.

By this fall eight area Krogers will offer ClickList shopping. They include the following locations: 279 Hubbards Lane, 4501 Outer Loop, 5001 Mudd Lane, 311 Boone Station Road, 6900 Bardstown Road, 9151 US Highway 42, New Dixie Highway Marketplace and 2219 Holiday Manor.
