Police: Man used blow torch to commit theft

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A southern Indiana man has been charged with in connection with breaking into and taking money from cash boxes at a Jeffersontown car wash.

William Ray Robertson, 44, of Georgetown, Indiana, is in custody at Louisville Metro Corrections for criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking.

An arrest warrant says that on October 17, 2015 Robertson used a blow torch to get into money boxes at Deno's Car Wash, 3900 Ruckriegel Parkway.

Jeffersontown police say the crime, which was recorded on surveillance video, netted just over $500 in cash, but caused more than $1,000 in damage to the money machine.

According to the warrant, Robertson is responsible for committing the same crime at several other car washes in the state and he is wanted on a number of warrants.
