Arson ruled the cause of apartment fire with rescues

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A apartment fire from which two people were rescued on Monday was the work of an arsonist, according to the Metro Arson Bureau of the Louisville Fire Department.

Okolona firefighters responded to the fire at Derby Estates Apartments at 5801 Robinwood Road about 1:30 a.m. on Monday, May 16. At least 14 adults and 10 children were inside the burning building. Firefighters rescued two of the adults. Everyone else got out themselves through apartment windows.

Firefighter said working smoke detectors contributed to the lack of injuries. No one was hurt in the fire.
