LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Shots fired toward students of a high school has led to the arrest of a man on charges for having stolen property and drugs.
Damond L. Chappele, 26, is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections. He was arraigned this morning and will be back in court May 31.
On the morning of May 18, Louisville Metro police were called to the 200 block of S 41st Street after someone was reported to be firing shots at students from the Academy @ Shawnee.
After obtaining a search warrant for Chappele's home, officers found marijuana, meth, heroin, codeine and other drugs. They also discovered a large amount of cash, drug trafficking paraphernalia and weapons - two handguns and a .22 caliber rifle. One of the guns had been reported as stolen.
Metro police arrested Chappele, who they say is a known member of a gang known as "Doom Squad," on charges of receiving stolen property - firearm, trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana and possession of controlled substances.
Police say additional charges could be filed once the results of gunshot residue tests are received.
