LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Crises can make strangers part of the family.
When Katie Savage was born she was shorter than a dollar bill and weighed less than a loaf of bread. She suffered heart problems and was at risk for blindness when she was born 17 weeks early.
Nine years later her Mom says all her health problems are gone.
What's the common-thread she shared with hundreds at Waterfront Park on Saturday?
All were treated in Kosair Children's Hospital's NICU: the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit.
"We come here every year to show the nurses and the doctors what they helped do. They helped us keep her here! Not all babies go out the front door," Beth Savage, Katie's mother, said.
Saturday's reunion featured games, face-painting and plenty of laughter.
