LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville woman has been ordered to appear before a judge on charges that she fled the scene of an accident involving a child in a stroller.
A criminal complaint summons was issued June 1 for Shaterriah Grant in connection with the May 25 incident.
According to the complaint, Grant, 25, of Louisville, was backing up her vehicle and struck a stroller with a 22 month old baby inside that was being pushed across 12th Street by his mother. The stroller was knocked over and the baby fell out.
Police say the child's mother ran up to the car as Grant sat inside, but Grant put the car into gear and drove off. Before Grant fled, the child's mother was able to reach inside the car grabbing Grant's cell phone and wallet.
The baby suffered leg injuries and was treated at Kosair Children's Hospital. The child's mother was able to identify Grant as the driver after picking her picture out of a photo lineup.
Grant is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended or revoked license and failure to maintain insurance will appear in Jefferson District Court on June 23.
