Man killed along Rockford Lane identified

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man found shot to death along the side of Rockford Lane late Thursday has been identified.

Maulik Patel, 21, died of a gunshot wound, according to Jefferson County Deputy Coroner J. David Wood.

Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night Louisville Metro Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3005 block of Rockford Lane off Cane Run Road. Patel, who had been walking westbound on Rockford Lane, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:34 p.m.

No one is in custody. Police interviewed people at a nearby gas station to determine whether anyone saw, or heard, anything.

Patel, who lived in the 4900 block of Saddlebrook Lane, is the 48th homicide of the year in Louisville. Last year at this time the city had 28 homicides.
