Report: Man slapped child causing injuries

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man has been charged with abusing a child after slapping him and causing injuries.

Darryl Nation, 35, of Jeffersontown, was arrested by Jeffersontown police June 2. He is charged with criminal abuse of a child 12 or under.

The abuse happened June 1 while Nation was involved in an argument with the child. The arrest report says Nation used his hand to slap the victim on the side of his head.

Police said the victim's mother, Nation's wife, did not witnesses the incident and did not initially call authorities because the child show no symptoms. EMS was called the next morning when the child had intense swelling, abrasions, was vomiting, had ringing of the ears and headaches.

Jeffersontown police say Nation admitted to what happened after being read his rights.

Bond for Nation was set at $500 cash. He will be back in court June 13.
