Severe storm damages homes, closes roads in WAVE Country

ST. MATTHEWS, KY (WAVE) - A St. Matthews couple got off to a disastrous start in their new home on Sunday when a brief but severe storm blew a large tree into the home they moved into hours earlier.

A firefighter had to break Debi and Pat Ziemer's fence to get them out. The couple was uninjured.

The house in the 4000 block of Napanee Road has been condemned, and the Ziemers are now staying at a hotel, their daughter said. The had just closed on the house on Wednesday.
