LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A child who was found in a pond in the Buechel area Sunday night has died at Kosair Children's Hospital.
Around 8:45 p.m. a call came into MetroSafe of a child who had fallen into a pond in the 3900 block of Orchard Lake Drive, located off of Breckenridge Lane. The child was found a short time later and was rushed by ambulance to Kosair.
A LMPD spokesperson confirmed the child passed away at the hospital.
A neighbor, who lives in a house right across from the pond, says she and her boyfriend were walking the dogs when they came across a little girl standing by the pond. That's when the girl said a boy had fallen in.
Jessica Rios says she recalled seeing a woman wading in the pond as she was on her way back home from work. She thought it was strange but didn't think much of it until she realized the woman was probably looking for the boy.

"There was no sign of any splashing or anything like that so he had been under the water for some time, i don't know how long," Rios said.
Rios says her boyfriend jumped in to help find the boy.
"My boyfriend jumped in to help find him, search for him, he said when he stepped into the pond he sank in a foot."
Soon after, the authorities arrived and the boy was recovered.
"The police found him and pulled him out of the water and immediately started doing CPR, relentlessly and over 10 minutes," Rios said. "They finally got him on the stretcher and got him on the ambulance."
In a neighborhood full of children the pond now reminds them of the tragedy.
