Louisville man who drowned in Grayson County identified

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An 18-year-old drowning victim from Louisville was identified Monday, a day after he was pulled from the water while swimming in Grayson County.

DeShawn C. King was a recent graduate of Southern High School.

The drowning occurred just after 7 p.m. (Louisville time) at the Panther Creek Boat Ramp. According to K105 radio in Leitchfield, calls to 911 reported that a man had jumped off the dock into the water and failed to surface.

As emergency crews headed to the scene they were notified that King had been pulled from the water by friends who were performing CPR.

King was driven approximately one mile from the boat dock to meet an ambulance, then rushed to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.

Dr. William Lee, the Hardin County coroner, said an autopsy will be performed.
