Home invasion: Woman confronted by gunman while leaving for work

FLOYD COUNTY, IN (WAVE) – Authorities are investigating a home invasion that happened in Floyd County Wednesday morning.

The Floyd County Sheriff's Department said it received a call of a suspicious white Chevy truck occupied by two white males near Hopewell and Reinhart Roads at 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

Eight minutes later, at 6:53 a.m., the agency received a call about a home invasion in the 5400 block of Reinhart Road.

The responding officers were told that as a woman was leaving for work, a man approached her car at the end of the driveway, pointed a gun at her and drove her back to the house, which they entered together.

The man took the woman to a bedroom where he confronted the victim's husband who was trying to retrieve a handgun. Authorities said the suspect struck the man in the head and took all his guns, jewelry, car keys, phones, a laptop, coins, and a large sum of cash.

The suspect is a white male dressed in camo pants and a black shirt. He was wearing body armor. He left in the victim's red Ford Fusion bearing Indiana license plate number WQI312.
