CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A young Campbellsville man with down syndrome had always dreamed of getting to experience a day in the life of a police officer. That dream came true Wednesday as he was officially sworn in as an officer for the day by the town's mayor.

Brannan Wheatley's friends and family were at the swearing-in ceremony, along with the entire Campbellsville Police Department.

After getting his badge pinned on, Wheatley got to patrol the streets of Campbellsville with Officer Andy Warren.

Police said Wheatley did more than just patrol, he united the community.

Wheatley was also given a proclamation by Governor Matt Bevin to honor his Officer for the Day duties
