LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville Black Lives Matter activist was taken into custody after police said he was driving a stolen vehicle.
According to Louisville Metro police, a LMPD detective was on his lunch break Monday when a vehicle cut in front of him erratically. The detective watched the vehicle and saw the driver, identified as Jaison Gardner, 36, park and get out.
The detective recognized Gardner because he was wanted on a felony warrant out of Marion County, Indiana.
While verifying the warrant, police said the detective learned the vehicle Gardner was driving had been confirmed as stolen.
When Gardner returned to the vehicle, police said he was taken into custody without incident.
Gardner was booked into Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and charged with receiving stolen property. He is also being held on the Marion County felony warrant for charges of forgery, theft and receiving stolen property.
