Gas leak causing traffic diversions on Taylorsville Road

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A leak of natural gas that affected afternoon rush hour traffic on Taylorsville Road just west of Bowman Field has been stopped and repairs are underway to a damaged gas line.

The leak was reported at Taylorsville Road and Gladstone Avenue between 3:30 and 4 p.m. No injuries were reported and no homes were evacuated.

Liz Pratt, a spokeswoman for LG&E, said a contractor was digging in the area and struck the gas main line  According to Pratt, the contractor did not call utility officials before starting work.

To help commuters get home, Louisville Metro police diverted traffic onto streets in the surrounding neighborhoods.
