Wandering child leads to discovery of 'filthy' living conditions

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor after police found her children living in conditions described as "filthy."

University of Louisville police said someone found a three-year-old boy wandering in the courtyard of an apartment complex in the 400 block of Reg Smith Circle on August 10. The child was unsupervised and did not have shoes on. The person who found the boy returned him to his home, where his mother, Lashawna D. Logan, 23, was inside.

ULPD officers were called after the same person saw the boy outside again. When police went to the apartment they discovered two more children inside with little food or water and said Logan was inebriated.

Bond for Logan was set at 10% of $5,000 and she was ordered to have no contact with any minor children. She will be back in court August 22.
