Motorcyclist critically injured in 2-vehicle crash in Old Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A motorcyclist was critically injured Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Old Louisville.

Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman Dwight Mitchell said the crash was reported at 6:45 a.m. at S. 1st and Breckinridge Streets.

Witnesses told police that the motorcyclist was traveling south on S. 1st. Street, ran a red light and was hit by an SUV that was traveling west on Breckinridge.

The motorcyclist was rushed to University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Mitchell said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating.
