Masked suspect arrested in discount store robbery

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man was quickly arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a discount store in South Central Louisville.

Jonathan Aramis Brito, 20, is charged with one count of robbery.

Louisville Metro police say Brito entered the Family Dollar store at 3277 Taylor Blvd. around 5:45 p.m. September 1 wearing a bandana on his face and carrying a handgun. When the employees saw Brito they ran and hid in a corner. Police said Brito approached the register and looked around, but left without taking any cash.

Officers responding to the holdup alarm found Brito near the store still wearing the bandana and placed him under arrest. He dropped the gun before police approached him.

In addition to charges connect with the robbery, Brito, who is a convicted felon, is also being held at Louisville Metro Corrections an outstanding bench warrant. He is scheduled to be arraigned on September 3.
