LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A woman is charged with first-degree arson after setting fire to her ex-boyfriend's home while he and several other people were inside, according to police.

Michelle D. Richardson's arrest warrant states that she went to the victim's home on Lindbergh Drive about midnight on July 12 and "intentionally set fire to the exterior of the residence knowing that the residence was occupied."

Police said a second man and his children were inside the home when the fire started. That man saw the flames and was able to go outside and extinguish them.

The warrant says Richardson showed up at family court over an Emergency Protection Order she had taken against the victim. While there, she testified that she poured gasoline on the outside of the home before igniting it and leaving the scene.
