LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A fundraiser aimed at ending childhood hunger was held Sunday at Play Louisville.
There was music, door prizes, a silent auction, food trucks, free Wick's Pizza and more in an effort to raise money for WAVE 3 News' own Dawne Gee's charity - A Recipe To End Hunger.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event go to feeding children from food-insecure homes.
"Kids that are hungry, they miss more school, they are more interested in what they're going to eat than what the teacher is saying," Gee said. "How you do feel when you are hungry? You can't pay attention to anything else. How do we expect our kids to do well at anything in life if they don't have a basic thing like food?"
If you couldn't make it to the event you can still help. The Recipe to End Hunger cookbook on Amazon. Or, donations can be made at any Republic Bank location.
