ESPN announces Louisville 'GameDay' broadcast location

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - ESPN on Tuesday announced that it will broadcast its popular "College GameDay" show on the lawn in front of the Howard Schnellenberger Football Complex, just outside the northeast corner of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

The show will air from that location from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the final hour just before kickoff will air inside the stadium.

Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, and Samantha Ponder will call the game between 10th-ranked Louisville and No. 2 Florida State, a pair of high-flying ACC powers who bring 2-0 records into the game.

"College GameDay" is college football's longest-running and most-celebrated pregame show, and Saturday's show will be its first in Louisville.

"College Football Live" will air from the "GameDay" set on Friday with Samantha Ponder, Desmond Howard and David Pollack on ESPN at 1:30 p.m. SportsCenter's Sara Walsh and Michael Eaves also will contribute from site throughout the weekend.

Details on fan participation for GameDay and other events will be released as information becomes available.

Lee Corso, a graduate of Florida State, is returning to Louisville, where he coached from 1969-72. He held a 28-11-3 mark in his four years, including a 9-1 record in his final year. He's the focus of the show's final segment when he dons headgear of the team who he thinks will win the feature game.

It's not yet known who the celebrity guest picker will be, but WAVE 3 News' Facebook fans have their opinions.
