2 children abducted from Fort Wayne, IN found dead, mother in custody

FORT WAYNE, IN (WAVE) – Two children who were at the center of a statewide AMBER Alert issued Monday in Fort Wayne were found dead late in the day in Elkhart, and their mother was taken into custody.

Indiana State Police said Liliana Hernandez, 7, and Rene Pasztor, 6, were abducted by their non-custodial mother, Amber Pasztor, 29, shortly 6 a.m. Monday from a home in the 7000 block of U.S. 33 in Fort Wayne.

WPTA-TV in South Bend, IN reported a woman who identified herself as the children's mother drove up to the Elkhart Police Department and told an officer who was leaving work that she had the children's bodies in her car.

Both children were found dead in the back seat.

No additional information has been released.

Autopsies on the children will be performed at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
