LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Public health officials made it easy for Louisville residents to get their flu vaccines on Friday.

The Metro Health Department hosted a free flu shot clinic at its headquarters on East Gray Street. With no appointment or worry of payment, health officials were making sure everyone stays healthy this flu season.

Public Health and Wellness director Dr. Joann Schulte said, "The reason that we're doing this immunization campaign right now is one, that its early in the flu season but we've already had cases, more than a dozen here in Louisville area, and the other thing that people don't realize is that this year you can't get the nasal version of the flu vaccine."

There have already been 15 confirmed cases of the flu in Louisville this year.

Flu shots usually run about $25 and a high-dose vaccine can cost $40.
