LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - One person is dead after a fire in eastern Jefferson County.

Crews received a call of a house on fire in the 4200 block of Graf Lane, not far from Six Mile Lane, around 10:15 p.m. Saturday night. Gordon Coombs, 74, died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, according to the Jefferson County Coroner.

The fire started in the front of the home and firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the fire in under 10 minutes, according to the McMahan Fire Department Chief Pat Walsh.

The man's wife was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Her condition is still unknown.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Louisville Metro Arson Squad.
