LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - State officials are reminding Kentuckians that outdoor burning is currently banned during daylight hours as dry conditions increase the risk of forest fires.

Outdoor burning is not allowed between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the forest fire season, which runs from Oct. 1 to Dec. 15. While burning is legal at night, state officials say it is dangerous and asked the public to refrain from doing so.

Recent rainfall was not enough to counteract dry conditions, officials said, and much more rain is needed to make burning safe.
