LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Beltone, a global leader in hearing aids, gave one special education teacher in WAVE Country the gift of hearing better.
Sunni Kelty, a special education teacher for 15 years and a reading specialist, has hearing loss. Beltone surprised her with a new pair of hearing aids on Tuesday. The Beltone office on Dixie Highway won a food drive competition, and the prize was nominating one patient to receive a pair of top of the line hearing aids.
"When you have a hearing impairment, and when someone says 'Hey, we're going to give you the best we have,' it's just amazing," said Kelty after receiving her new hearing aids.
Kelty decided she would make it her mission in life to teach children with learning disabilities and has been a special education teacher for 15 years. She's also been a reading specialist and has helped countless children with dyslexia be successful and confident students. Kelty wants to do nothing else but help others.
The food drive competition was held across 49 offices, raising 3,382 items and approximately 1,800 pounds of food, resulting in 1,522 meals. Beltone has also contributed $507.00 to Feeding America to match the food drive donations monetarily.
