Louisville radio station playing holiday music now through Christmas night

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - With Halloween and the presidential election in the rear-view mirror, it's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas on one Louisville radio station.

106.9 Play/WVEZ rested its usual format at 9 a.m. Wednesday and made its transformation into "Louisville's Original Christmas Music.

The radio outlet will play only modern and classic Christmas and holiday-themed songs from now through Christmas night.

"With the election coming to a close, we thought it was the perfect time to spread some cheer and bring the Louisville community together," Operations Manager Shane Collins explained. "We just couldn't wait to continue our 17-year tradition of being Louisville Christmastime authority."

Collins said the station also will be aligned with many of the area's biggest holiday events, including Light Up Louisville/Holiday in the City, and upcoming Christmas concert featuring pianist Jim Brickman, and the Moscow Ballet.
