Boy shot at Louisville park

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A teenage boy was shot in California Park on Saturday afternoon.

About 6 p.m. Saturday the Louisville Metro Police Department's 2nd Division responded to Norton Children's Hospital to a report of a 15-year-old male with a gunshot wound who had been transported to the emergency room there by a private vehicle.

Upon further investigation it was determined that the boy was shot around 4 p.m. in the park at 1600 St. Catherine Street, according to LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell.

The boy "appears to have sustained non life-threatening injuries," according to Mitchell.

The LMPD Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
